Cash Game Poker – The Basics

By Mel Judah on October 11th, 2009.

Starting small, increasing your knowledge and improving your skills is the best way to become an accomplished player before you decide to play higher limits. The key requirements are excellent money management, understanding your opponents and not going on tilt. It is not a bad thing to go broke, early in your poker career. In fact, it is a good lesson that will help you get back on your feet and hopefully you will not repeat the same mistakes again. Never think you know it all because we are learning all the time.

Do not play too many long sessions. Do not play when you are too tired or have had too much alcohol to drink, and if you are not running good, take a brake as there is always another day.
